Holiday Geese
For a Dickens of a holiday, place your order today for all-natural, local Geese from the Goose.
Chris never got the roll of Tiny Tim in the school pageant, but he'll fill your tall order for the centerplate of a tasty and traditional holiday table.
Each Goose weighs 7-9 pounds at $7.95 per pound.
The Goose's French Toulouse Geese were raised by Mandy, Matt, and Abe on their Schacht Farm in Bloomington. At the Schacht's farm, the geese grow up naturally and gently on fresh, open pastures where they're allowed to forage freely and feed on grass.
These mild-mannered, grey geese were originally bred near Toulouse, France, and are still the most popular breed for foie gras production. After British farmers bred Toulouse for greater size, the birds made their way to the States over a century ago.
Today, the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy has listed the Toulouse as an endangerd breed. So why eat it? Besides the rich meat and divine fat that this goose yields, we also eat it to save it. |

Holiday White
Au Bon Climat Central Coast Pinot Gris/Pinot Blanc 2007
a Food & Wine Winemaker of the Year at the winery Robert Parker put on his short list of the world's best...cheers
Light citrus and cooked pears come through the rich, full mouth of this bottle with just a gentle zing to keep us sipping happily. Appetizers, roast poultry, and vegetable soups could fill the bowls next to this glass, but we liked drinking this California blend while baking cookies and opening presents, too.
Pre-order Price: $15.50 Regular Price $18.50
Holiday Red Chateau Lescalle Bordeaux Superieur 2005
So good our wine rep bought a case for himself.
This French blend of merlot and cab has used its time in the bottle wisely. Blooming with dark, juicy fruit, a hint of vanilla, and a balancing freshness, this hearty wine is ideal for crown roasts, rich geese, sharp cheeses, and the winter holidays. The weather outside may be frightful, but with this juice in your glass, even the in-laws are delightful.
Pre-order Price: $16.75 Regular Price $19.75 | |

Refrigerator Door
Now it's your turn.
You buy it, you cook it, you shoot it, and hang it up on the refrigerator door for everyone to see what you made with goods from The Goose.
This dish is an honest square...herb roasted chicken, warm leek salad, and cheddar grits, all stirred up by Goose regular biscuitcleaver. |
Thanks for hanging on to the end. You may now return to your previously scheduled day. Happy holidays from all of us,
